Truck dies and wont start??
My truck died the other day after driving about 30 miles. I just filled up in the morninig and added anti-gel the day before. The temp was 22 when i left the house and 3 when i got to the snow park. The truck died and the SES light came on, I tried to restart but the glow plug lights would not come on. I waited about an hour and tried to restart. This time the glowplug light came on and the truck started. It would run about 10 min. and die and SES would come back on and no glow plug light. Ended up having it towed home, when I got home it started ran for 10 min. then died. Thought maybe the CPS was bad so I got one at Napa(I know they are not good)but I wanted to see if it would fix it, but it did not. I had the truck in the garage plugged in last night and this morning it started up and will not die, I let it idle for about 25 min. and nothing??
I have a 2000 f-350 7.3 SCSB 4x4, 4"exhuast F-6 tunner,6.0 intercooler. AFE intake.FRX, HRX,OCR, ISSpro gauges, AHI delete, foil delete,Riff Raff intercooler boots.
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance

The key here is when you don't get a wait to start light = no start. That means your pcm isn't getting power through the pcm relay. Usually this is a blown fuel heater. This will blow fuse #30. But your problem is intermittent. I would double check the #30 fuse in the cabin fuse box. Try to wiggle that fuse when running and see if it dies. I would also wiggle the wires that go to the fuel bowl heater when running. Also, a loose chip or switch might cause this. Just make sure your keys are not in the ignition if you mess with the chip.

A friend of mine had a similar problem and it turned out to be a fuse for the pcm I believe. Apparently the fuse got to where instead of completely blowing, it burnt just enough to create a crack in the fusible metal. When it would get hot it would bend slightly opening the circuit and in turn the truck would die. When it would cool off the circuit would close back up, pretty crazy. Anyway he changed the fuse and had no more issues.

I think I would change the fuse and check the connections on the pcm diode and pcm relay. Maybe change the pcm relay with one like it if there is one other than the idm relay. keep a meter in truck and the next time it gets hot and quits, check the continuity on the pcm diode. It should work if u put the leads on the terminals one way and not work if you reverse the leads.

I pulled the codes and this is what I got-
p0605
p0603
p0541
I also pulled the #30 fuse and unhooked the fuel bowl heater
started the truck this morning for the first time today and it ran fine, until I shut it off and restarted it then it ran for a few minutes and died??
I have looked for any spoyt where wires could rub and also have tried moving them with the truck running and cant make it die?
Could it be something in the key assembly??

How long have you had the chip installed? If the contacts were not clean enough or to much was taken off that could cause a problem. Personally I would pull the chip out and see if that is the problem. Here is the code that sticks out to me: P0606 PCM Processor Fault. If you have the AIH delete that would cause the p0541. I think the 603 is normal for a chipped truck.
