So what is the story behind the truck getting to the UK?

I'm still waiting to afford all the parts I need. Sorta need to do most everything at once and a 3/4 ton axle set runs about $250 around here, a 1 ton runs 4 times that. Plus wheels. Plus the powertrain. So it adds up and thus she sits, lol.

I did discover today however that the best way to kill a battery is to try to start a 272 when it's 10 degrees outside...

Luckily I still have a copy of the title from a previous owner - it originally came from Riverside CA (I actually looked up the exact house on google maps!) in 1996. Having covered 200005 miles it got traded in at a place called Lancer motors who then passed it onto Santa Ana Motors.

It was imported into the UK by a guy in Blackpool, after being customs cleared on the 20th Sept 1996. It sat in his garage for around 10 years until he eventually sold it on to the next owner on Anglesey who had it for a year or so before eventually selling it to me as a full project. 3 years later and she is finally on the road!!

Is it possible by the serial number alone to find the history of a vehicle, like say mine? All I have is the frame serial number?

I know the feeling. I made a run to Arizona from Canada to get the parts but life keeps getting in the way. And now a small garage to boot!

I don't think it would be easy as records were not really kept back in the day. The best bet is any history file that comes with it when you buy it. I'd really love to know what kind of life my truck led - and where some of the dents that were in the roof came from!

You can work out the plant that manufactured your truck and the original colour + engine it came with though from the Vin number - mine was built at the Long Beach (CA) plant and was originally meadow green.

My 54 is in my garage and shed in thousands.....ok maybe hundreds of pieces! Got enough money for xmas and my birthday to allow me to buy everything I need to put my truck back into a rolling chassis.....but the cold weather here in the midwest and recent shoulder surgery to remove a bone spur has me side lined till spring.

An air filter that i never could decide what to do with. I am running a 4.6. The front end is a subframe out of an 04 crown vic( bolt in ). I believe the tires are 245\60\17 off a 05 mustang. i moved my crossmember almost 2 inches forward to center the wheel in the well.and yeah im working on the gallery. thanks doug

It looks like it's well on it's way.

I started what I hope is the last rebuild of my 53. Currently, it is just a frame on a rotisserie.
