Australian 1984 4X4 F100 (WAS: New member)
Hi all,
My name's Chaise, I've just signed up.
I'm from Australia, I have a 1984 F100 4X4 XLT lwb with a 351 Clevo. I bought it in April this year. I love the thing.
I've recently (Last week) changed it from the C6 to an NP435.
I'm not entirely happy with the NP435 an I'm looking to try and make an adaptor to suit the tailhousing of a TKO500 to fit the NP208.
I dont know if these'll work, but here's some pics of her:
I look forward to sharing stories and getting info from you guys,
Cheers

Yeah, edelbrock performer manifold, holley 650 vac sec square (wtf), new gen LPG mixer.
I'd like to get a twin carb setup, but the only ones I can find for clevo's are tunnelrams, which I dont rate. I'd like to put two Impco 425 LPG mixers on it.
One advantage of a tunnelram is that I wouldn't need the carb spacers to get the filter closer to the bonnet, but I don't really like to rev the thing, 4500 - 5000 max for me.

The problem is I run LPG.
Unless I use GasResearch stuff (which is too exxy), I'll be using the Impco 425 gas mixer. These only flow about 460 CFM.
What I'd love is one of these to suit a Cleveland, and put two Impcos on it. I'll be looking to stroke the engine to 4" later-on so the extra fuel will be necessary.

I know LPG isn't too prevailent in America, but it's everywhere here. It's great out in the bush cos you dont have to worry about petrol sloshing around in the tank or carb bowls, etc.
There's a lot of talk about which is better (single or dual plane) with LPG, I don't fully understand it as I'm not an expert, but there's claims that it can take up to 30% more intake volume than petrol ( I find that a little stretching to believe). They say it loves bigger plenums, some people actually take the divider out of the dual plane manifolds.
My issue is supply. 460 CFM just isn't enough. I could fabricate a twin mixer setup above one carby, but that just looks shtt.

You will jerk that off in a hurry if you ever do it. You are planning to use high rpm racing stuff, and that will not work well on a heavy truck with big tires. You want low rpm torque, which means a small carb with vacuum secondaries like you have now on a dual plane intake.
He's talking about twin LPG (think you might call it propane) carburettors, the 425 only flows 425cfm & can make a 351 asthmatic fairly early on.
Most common setup used is to share a common holley base plate as per
Cletus Racin - Twin Impco 425 setup
The twin setups on a tunnel ram I've only heard chatter of, never seen one, have no clue how it behaves, the common consensus is that LPG likes more plenum chamber volume so it might make sense.

I'm in north Queensland couple a hours south of cairns.
Couple of interesting things I worked out when I first came to this site which you might already know..... the US didn't have 4X4 f100's so whenever your asking questions about your truck you need to call it a f150. Also the default small blocks in the US are windsors 302/351, not clevelands as we're acustom to.
Blood informative site though with very helpful & curtious members ..... enjoy !
