HPOP repair problems! Help!!

I am trying to get the 18mm bolt out of the front of the HPOP but all I end up doing is turning the gear. Is there something I am doing wrong or something I can do while cranking on the bolt?

you got anyone else that can put a socket on the crank pulley? I wonder if someone else put some locktight on that bolt?

Man I hate doing this on gears but a big rubber mallet on the ratchet you are using maybe. I wouldn't use an impact on it but I guess you could if you had to.

I put a socket on a breaker bar and wedged it against the frame then was able to break it loose.

Yep, you need to put a socket/breaker bar on the crank pulley to keep the engine from turning over.

Thanks guys, I finally got it after cranking on it several times. This whole thing has been fighting me the whole way. I feel like I have never even worked on a vehicle before.

it will probably try to spin the gear when you tighten that bolt back down, but just tighten it down by hitting the end of the wrench or breaker bar a couple times with a rubber mallet. the bolt doesnt have to be super tight.

Impacts are great for getting nuts/bolts out of things that turn on you.

I use an impact on that bolt. When you tighten it up torque it down so you will need to bar the engine.
