Dummy plugs. They are part of the High Pressure oil system,

I have had mine just a bit more than 6Mo at this point and am very happy
wit hit at 159,000 miles and counting.

Still love my '03 I bought new.

Just returned from a 2700 mile road trip from Southern California to Bellingham, Washington and back in my other '03 6.0, towing 10,400 lbs.

This truck turned 100k while on the trip, when I bought it at 60k it had one bad injector, and the oil cooler was on it's way out. Did the injector, oil cooler, along with a BP EGR cooler, coolant flush and filter install, and serviced the trans.

Been an awesome tow truck since, with just oil/filter changes, fuel filters, and Stanadyne or Power Service Diesel Kleen, along with Howe's Diesel Conditioner in every tank.

Wow, amazing this thread was started in 2003... My 05 F350 FX4 has been a great truck since new in October 2004. All of the horror stories (mostly on FTE) really scared the crud out of me but I have learned to not worry about it too much. Only problem I had which wasn't a minor one was oil cooler replacement (egr cooler fell off that day), but not sure if this would qualify as "a major problem" though. Other than that, just a a couple suspected egr issues (prior to it falling off). Then an alternator went out on my last towing trip with trailer in tow. I don't think I can complain too much, with 105,000 miles on the odometer. Damned nice truck. I hope it stays that way until a day when I might part with her, maybe some day.
