Rock Auto says the following about a 1978 F-150 Starter Motor.
ACDELCO Part # 3361017 {#19133786, 19133799, 3361030} Manual Transmission
ACDELCO Part # 3361016 {#19133785, 19133793, 3361024} Automatic Transmission
It says the following about a 1992 F-150 Starter Motor.
ACDELCO Part # 3361165 {#19133961, 19136105, 3361796} Manual Transmission
ACDELCO Part # 3361114A {#88864223} Automatic Transmission
Autozone says the same thing.
78 F-150 2WD - Part No.# DLG524A
92 F-150 2WD - Part No.# DLG581S
Doesn't look like it.

Are both truck AUTO / Manual?
You cant cross over.
You can install the newer style starter is an older truck, you just have to change some wiring around.
