'56 throttle linkage kluge

I've got an "interesting" attempt to solve a linkage problem by the previous owner. The engine is 351W from what I was told is a 69 Mustang Mach I. I'm not exactly convinced of the exact donor but it is a 351W circa 69. The tranny mated to the donor bell housing is a 3sp from a what looks to be a passenger car. The carb is a Holley 2BL 2300 500 CFM model , manual choke. The stock linkage pictured in the exploded illustration seems to have a spring attached to the firewall and a couple of linked connecting rods to the passenger side of the engine. The problem is the current linkage kluge binds and sticks and defies adjustment making for inconsistent idling and starting problems. I'm hoping due to the popularity of the block and the carb model that someone has run into a similar problem and solved it with a better fabrication or even better an after market solution.

I went to Lokar and got their floor mounted pedal set up. what this does is cause the new throttle cable that you would need to buy to pull the linkage correctly. I then fabbed up a throttle linkage bracket and mounted it to the intake. total cost was about 80 bucks or so. I had it all built in about an hour. I'm not too sure how to attach a picture but I do have a couple.

Thank you for the suggestion. I wanted to try and stay with the stock pedal and linkage if at all possible. Adding pictures is easy just click on the paper clip icon and upload your pictures then attach where you want it. I spent some time looking at various hobby speed sites and came up with a solution using some parts from http://speedwaymotors.com I used swedged aluminum tubing and a couple of heim threaded ends with studs and some jam nuts. This is how it looks. Seems to work great so far. We'll see long termName: 2011-01-09_12-36-51_743_a.jpg
