Hey Guys, Ive got me a 2000 f350 PSD 4x4 dually w 4.10s!!!! Yes I must say it likes to pull, what Im looking for is a way to cruise down the highway easier. Currently, its got 235/85/16s and its time for some new tires... I like the thought of the 19.5s but Im not looking for an extensive lift job. Im alright with the 16's but it is time for new tires. Mpg on the highway is were its suffering the most. I did recently add a programmer and 4inch ex and boy am I thrilled w those results! If only the next mods will be as wonderful as these! Being able to get 150k out of some tires would be awesome! MPG is what Im looking for tho. Thanks for the suggestions guys and Merry Christmas!
Which engine? Assuming a7.3l. If you get much bigger than 285s you will suffer mileage. When researching your next tires look at the tire weight of the various choices. The heavier the tire the bigger the loss. The wider the tire the bigger the loss. are you considering new wheels??
19.5 should fit thicker sidewall thicker bead and a dam tough tire Im sure you know but youll have to buy rims also toyo 16 pr makes a dam good A/T 19.5
Yes Im considering new wheels but at 2200 rpm at 70mph I really wasnt thinking that weight was the issue. yep its a 7.3. All my buddies certainly get better milage with their 7.3s. I was looking for alternatives instead of having to do 3.73s front and rear.
Lower gear ratios will hurt your mileage. The 4.10s are great for pulling, but not so much for highway cruising. Just drop the speed down to 60, which should bring your RPMs to about 1900. That will help.
I was hoping the bigger tires would help.... i guess im looking for more spped to!lol Id like to be able to do at least 70 comfortably and get some milage doing it!!!
