Sounds good Proweld! Now just a thought:

I may get CRITICIZED for this statement...You may have to look up on the net but I believe I have read that even though the #'s don't match up....you could still use the PCM from a donor truck...IF it's completely close to the truck you have now. I know it's about $100 for one from autozone or rockauto.

I'm still interested in the PCM and what the PCB looks like inside the housing.

I have the one out and took the cover off. it looks good and clean and has no signs of corrosion in side or anything thats visually bad.Being a computer you never know what all those diodes and crossovers etc. are thinking or not thinking inside. My #'s are F4TF-12A650-APA was told i could use -APB or -APC but the rest of the #'s had to match. The late 93 model i took one out of did not match and that truck had a map sensor and i would geuss that would have something to do with it. I have a few friends that have junk yards so actually this morning i am headed to breakfast with one and gonna take another look around his place and then hit another on my way home if i have no luck. I did find used on ebay for $95 up to $200 +/- and another place that sells remans yours for $175 but if its no good you need to add extra to get one of theirs. I will pass on that one. Maybe even cheaper for me to find a rot box that runs and use parts off that. Also thought of rippin the intake off and goin carb with another dist. Did check autozone online and was about $195 and thats subtracting my $60 core. special order too.

Yeah, you were right with SD vs. MAF. If you do or don't come up with another PCM, another thought is the TFI(ICM). Another poster is having a similar problem but when the ambient temp is below 65. Subford suggested the TFI itself may be going bad.

Plowed snow lastnight and with the maf unplugged i dont get the bog with no power to move. It by no means runs right but doesnt cut down to a couple cyl, and stall. Hope thats another indication of the ecu. Also the overdrive light flashes constantly and it never shifts out of 1st. Is that anything that could be the problem or will be fixed with an ecu?

also wanted to add that using the truck to plow 2 times has eaten a whole rear tank of fuel. My what i plow is not that much. just too much for the wheeler and too cold. I used to plow with an 01 f250 5.4 and 1 plowing wouldnt move the gauge. My rear tank was full and after lastnight it reads empty. I am gonna keep running on that tank till it dies to make sure sending unit is working. I know the tank is clean cuz i just put it in and only had that 1 tank full so i am not afraid of sucking up crap by running it empty. Geussing that type of fuel usage would maybe put it about 3mpg. thats alot of fuel. If i run it in the garage it takes about 15 seconds to start burning your eyes and bringin tears in about another 10 sec. only a 24 x 24 garage. Just to make it clear i do not keep doors closed like an idiot. sometimes it takes that long to get it running and move enough to get out of garage.

WOW!!!! I unplugged an electric thing about in the middle of the tranny on the passenger side and the truck runs great!!! no missing or bogging or stalling. It drives like its stuck in 2nd gear but it runs right. what is that part and what does it do? I can't believe it runs so good.

Congrats! I sure that's the little culprit behind all of you problems! I'm really interested if it is!

If so, it's better than the PCM!

ok so i checked wires and didnt find any bad ones. I changed the shift solenoid along with the other 2 electrical parts inside the trans pan. plugged the tranny back in after clearing computer and still runs like crap. unplug the tranny and it runs great but only has 2nd gear for forward gears. Why would it run bad with the trans plugged in and good with the trans unplugged? What should I do now? burn it? scrap it? ever had one of those things that you sink too much time and $ into and know you should get out before your totally upside down and broke?

FINALLY i was able to get a pcm. No it did not fix the problem. I have been plowing my yard with the trans unpluged and in low range and its been goin good only having 2nd gear until the outer rt axle exploded the other day so i am thinking of goin in garage and replacing it since i have one. After i change the axle i am going to bring it to the shop and have him plug it in again to try and pin point the trans problem. thought last time it said shift solenoid and something else so i replaced all the electric parts inside with used parts and maybe i got a bad one.
