one tire wearing faster
Hello, my front passenger tire is wearing faster than all the others. my tires were rotated this summer. i also got new front springs this summer. the wear on the tire looks uniform, and worse in the middle, but the tires are definitely not overinflated because they are at reccomended psi of 55 i think. do you think I need an alignment, or new front shocks? or a defective tire? 1996 f-250 4x4
thanks

The way your tires are running is making me think that you could have it overinflated.
If your shocks were bad you wouldn't necessarily get bad uniform wear in just the center of the tread, but instead your tires would become more chopped and wavy.
Check and see if it is evenly worn all the way around in just the center. if there is for instance one section of the middle tread of the tire that has more tread than say another section of the middle of the tire, then that would indicate a busted belt in the tire.
Are the tires rated properly for the truck and recomended inflation pressures?
Give the whole front end a shakedown to see if you have any loose or damaged parts.
Thats all i got....

55psi? Sounds high.
How are the bearings/drag, etc.
Caliper dragging? Pulling to the right/left/center?
Screwed milege?
4x4 u-joints hanging? Hubs not releasing?
Tire brand?
Can I stop now?
Really, go to a tire shop, have them read the tire. Too many variences to figure in. Get a second opinion also if you're still unsure.
Let us know.
Kind Regards, and

Thanks for the input, as I recall the sticker on the door jam says 55psi front, 70 rear, and when I checked them last week the fronts were down in the 40s, so if anything id say underinflated. The truck doesnt seem to pull one way but i'll check for a sticking caliper and the hubs. tire brand is an off-brand called cordovan which came with the truck, so could be a defective tire maybe. I will go to a shop tomorow.

The sticker on the door jam would be referring to the original tires that came on the truck,it being a 96 they are not the original tires, check the recommended psi on the tires themselves ,they are always labeled on the side wall. new front springs would also warrent having the alignment checked.

On the Bronco once I had one tire that was wearing much quicker than the others. Took it in for alignment/checkup and they told me the one wearing worse was a P-metric tire where all the others were standards.
Had them put the spare on (I had bought a set of 5 when I bought the rig as it had lousy tires all the way around) & check alignment. Still have the same tires on (Michelins) and no problems.
