Tires and load rating.

Tires and load rating.
My Dad has a 2010 Ranger 4x4 and needs tires. Stock is P255-70-16.
He wants to put on a slightly larger BFG All-terrain LT265-75-16 but it has a "E" load rating.
Or could go with a BFG LT265-70-16 with a "D" rating.
Is the higher loadrange tire going to effect the ride quality much?
Or will it be fine with just running 35psi in the tires?

Good question Chris. I would ask that question here... General Automotive Discussion - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (General Automotive)
I would run the tire pressure at whatever the door jamb says to, regardless of the tire. (as long as it does not exceed the MAX PSI)

You probably will not notice much difference in the ride quality except a deep traction tire may make more noise on dry pavement. I would go with the LT265-70-16 versus the 75 series tire. The 75 series is more than 3" in diameter larger then the stock tire and you would have rubbing during sharp turns or under heavy loads in the bed.
P255-70-16 Diameter 29.69" Width 11.26"
LT265-70-16 Diameter 32.24' Width 11.45"
LT265-75-16 Diameter 33.24" Width 11.34"

LT265-70-16 Diameter 32.24' Width 11.45"

So those were the 'D' rated tires, correct?
After you have them mounted and you've driven the truck some, come back here and report to us how whether or not they rub......
--- Thanks!

Yes they were the "D" rated tires.
I installed them on my Dad's truck this morning.
I did not drive it but he did. I just came back from his place and I asked him about them.
No rubbing, they look big but they fit nicely. And a nicer ride than his G/Y Wranglers.
Most likely because the Wranglers were cupped so badly.
