Time to stop lurking and introduce myself

Hey everyone,

I found this site a while back when an old itch to own an F1 flared up something fierce and I started to look at what was "out there" and available. Long story short I found my dream truck and after some trials and tribulations closing the deal brought it home about a week ago.

Obviously I am a loyal convert to the FTE way of life due to the fact I drove it directly home, into my garage and immediately put it up on blocks. Based on what I have seen here on the board this is one of the natural "states of being" for these things. I have included some pics of the truck and my pit crew testing out the original springs in the seat.

Over the holidays, the crew and I along with some help from my old man will be sorting out the details, swapping out the drums for discs to make mama happy and looking at how to make the No Limit rack work when it gets here.

I have been lurking on the board for a while now and have to thank you all for the depth of knowledge and information you all so freely share. I have already relied on many of you whether you know it or not. Keep an eye out for more pics and the inevitable pleas for help as I dive into this thing. Happy Holidays to all.

Jake

Welcome aboard! That looks like a pretty nice starting point. You're braver than I am to put it under the knife so soon. Hang around a bit and keep us in the loop!

Howdy and welcome. Nice looking truck ya got there. I kinda agree with Blue Oval there with putting her under the knife so soon but hey its yours and have at her. Those disk brakes will be real nice and with the pit crew you have you'll feel alot safer...

Welcome from another new guy! That looks like one very clean F1! I see you literally put her "up on blocks". In the interest of safety it might be a good idea to invest in some proper jack stands. Good luck on a great start to a really nice project!

Welcome to the show that never ends!!!

As you have been lurking for a while, you already know what to expect and you shouldn't need a program to tell you who the players are!!

Welcome, Jake! Nice truck! Always amazes me that Portland steel can be clean with so much rain up there, is that a local truck?

Nice truck. Congratulations!! Is that a positive or negative ground system? Your 2 co-pilots are a good looking crew. My 2 LOVE to ride around in my truck with me. (be warned--It's either the flathead or carbon monoxide poisoning, but my kids fall asleep all the time when riding in my truck). I agree with the comments above. Just fix what has to be fixed at first and let the truck tell you what it wants. Those original drum brakes aren't the end of the world if you get them fixed and adjusted right, especially with the flathead. My kids ride in my truck all the time and they ride in their grandpa's 50 ford coupe with the original drum brakes as well.

Welcome aboard! Sometimes the search is worth it when you find the right truck...seems like you have a fine truck and an even better "crew". Stay dry and good luck with your updates.
