Im looking to but my first PSD its a 2001 F250 7.3 the miles on the odm reads 89K which seems to good to be true. I ran a carfax on it and it seems the truck is on its second owner. 1st one put 30k in the firsT year, 2nd owner put 20K the second year and very little after that. I wish I could run a oasis report. The truck seems pretty clean. Any thoughts?
When I bought my 2001 in July of 2009, it had 59,000 miles on it. I got the Carfax, and the original owner put 35,000 miles on it in the first year and a half. I believe they had a travel trailor. So that means that my truck only traveled 24,000 miles in the next 6.5 years. The second owner of my truck only owned it for a couple of weeks, got in trouble, and the car dealer bought it back from him. The guy who owned the car lot drove my truck home every day because he liked it so much. So my truck was eight years old, and in mint shape when I bought it with only 59,000 miles on it. So I don't see why the truck you are looking at couldn't be legit, especially if it's in great shape. Good luck.
Most large dealerships will do all the checkup things for you for a small fee. Talk to your local shop and see what they say. If its $39 to go over everything and give you an oasis id do it. That way you know if anything needs work right away that you might not notice or feel.
I use the condition of the drivers seat, steering wheel, and brake pedal as easy indicators of real miles. At 89K, the brake pedal should show minimal wear - definitely not worn through or looking recently replaced.

is very good info..
also if your serious about the truck dont be afraid to take the VIN into a dealer to have a Oasis report done.
Brake peddle pad can be replaced and the seat cover can be repaired like new, but not usually done unless someone is really trying to scam. I bought my 01 when it was right at 2 years old with 95,000 miles on it. I've had it since then and with the increase in diesel prices since then and a couple of other reasons it now only has about 142,000.
If I had owned my truck since new, the mileage on the one you are looking at would be about what you see.
