3Spd Floor Shifter (Hurst Indy??)
I have what I believe is a Hurst Indy shifter on my 3 spd tranny. Does anyone have any reference documents on how the thing is supposed to be installed?
In the picture above, the "bar" that is at the end of the shifter and runs through the "linkage brackets" on either side is not long enough to go through both brackets. See pic below where the bar only protrudes through the bracket on the left.
Also just want to make sure I have everything hooked up correctly. Thanks for any help.

It may be helpful if we knew what you're working on, ie; make, model, year, etc. The next thing is, is this a Hurst kit for this application, or some 'farmer' build? It's hard to say how it's supposed to install if it really isn't supposed to.
That said, your 'pins' that fit into the shifter levers, you don't want both to be engaged at the same time. The idea is one arm will move fore and aft for the 2-3 shift, then when you pull the handle toward you, it releases the one lever and engages the other to make the R-1 shift. If that makes sense. It appears you may be on the right track, and didn't even know it. ;-)

Signature is accessed thru the User CP at top left.
If it were a real Hurst, it would be marked all over it. It looks like one of the cheaper ones, like a SparkOMatic. But lots of companies were making them at one point. It sounds like you are on the right track to assembling, but there should be some springs in there.

Like Wayne/52Merc said, one lever in the shifter controls the 2-3 trans lever, the other controls the 1 - R. So pull the Hurst lever to the driver's side, and move it forward and backward, see which Hurst lever moves. Hook up the rear shifter lever on the trans to that. Hook up the other one to the other trans lever.
On the chance Reverse is where 1st should be, and 3rd is where 2nd should be, you need to flip the trans levers 180 degrees.

hey thanks for the quick reply. well i have it all hooked up, but i'm havin problems getting them in proper adjustment. maybe not though, realized a little while ago the i didn't cut the hole in the floor big enough, looks to be about an inch short. i added some materials to the shifter and it's now 29 inches in length, it was 16! and i just didn't like it bein' that short. i'm kinda goin rat rod with the truck since most of the cab has rust holes in it. i have lots of ideas in my head, just not sure which ones to go with just yet. anybody have any idea on where i can get a drop visor for a 66 f100?
