ZF-6 input shaft repair kit?

Jjust saw this on bobs site: http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=588

Was wondering what yalls thoughts were?

Havent dove in yet, but the flywheel i got from Clay has the kevlar bushing in it, I know there are mixed reviews on that one and I only want to do this once.

The dang clutch / flywheel is still sitting on the garage floor, but I swear im gonna get it on there sometime soon...

Nice find. I haven't seen that. Looks similar to how the 6.0 tranny is done without having to grind the flywheel to make the bearing fit.

Rats! If I had seen this six months ago it could have saved me several hundred bucks in parts. At least the transmission was already out of the truck.

I used this kit on a customers truck a couple of yrs ago. good quality stuff. of course anything I've ever gotten from Bob has been top notch. its like a speedi sleeve for the input shaft. not as good as the 6.0 upgrade but much better than the Kevlar. IMHO

Note the numbers on the new seal in case you need to replace at some point. I just did a seal replacement on a blazer that was fixed this way. Got lucky with a guess at the parts store and didn't have to make another trip...

That does look promising. A little red Loctite helps keep light pressed items together better too. My curiosity lies with how well the bearing is made. If it's a good bearing design it might be worth putting on a good input shaft!

I have had it in for over 2 years now and it still works great.
The clutch bounces a bit in reverse with a trailer behind, but nothing that is too bothersome.
I ended up going back to the Kevlar bushing on mine because of a bad bearing.
Not Bobs fault, just a bad part.

Here is a link to the same kit Bob use to sell. I have one in mine and it works great. The end of the input shaft was messed up and this fixed that too.

Any up date?

Do we have any updates on this?
Any others use it?
I just picked up a 2001 with a 6 speed that has this problem.

KD6, I just did my clutch/flywheel a few weeks ago. After a lot of research, I didn't use the kevlar bushing from South Bend. I went with the oil-impregnated bronze bushing from Dorman. $4 from O'Reilly's. I didn't want to have another needle pilot bearing - I don't care how big they are, they're still needle bearings. My factory one was nothing but dust. My pilot shaft was a little scored, so we set the bushing in the flywheel to a spot where it was on a smooth part of the input shaft. I can dredge up the part # if you need it, or you can google 7.3 zf-6 dorman pilot bronze bushing and come up with it.
