Front Engine ERG cooler to MAF coolant hose leak
I have a pinhole leak in a rubber host that seems to come from the EGR cooler on the front of the engine, and terminates in the many things that enter the MAF. It's right on top of the engine. Anyone know what part # this is?
I actually hurd an audible burping sound (very faint) in the cab while idling. When i checked the coolant, it is quite low, and I tracked down the leak as it seems to leave a white residue.
I'll be researching to make sure I've got the "T" in the necessary place for the degass bottle issue, but I dont' think that's related.
Thanks for any help in advance, and keep on truckin'!

here is a very good link for the venturi-T.

Be sure to look at yours and pay attention to the arrows on it.
The EGR Valve , I assume you have the old style which has the coolant line on it. The hose on it goes the the upper EGR cooler # 2.
Use only the Ford gold coolant, you can also fine it at NAPA.

Thanks. I checked it, and It's in the correct place and the arrow is in the correct direction.
That said, is there a procedure to get rid of all air in the system caused by it going to low?
Any help on the part number would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

I don't know about how to get it out but you need to do it. Getting air in there can cause some serious problems. I'm not sure what they are but I do know letting the coolant get below the rubber hose inlet is a big no no. If you put low coolant in the search you may find some threads on it. Or some of the guys with experience may jump on here and tell us. Ordinarily I would say fill it and run it with the cap off and the heater wide open and the air will burp out but I'm not sure I would do that until I found the threads on here on the subject.

OK, did a little search and Hydro Lock is what you should be concerned with. I'm not exactly sure what that is but is has to do with lack of coolant to the egr valve. So try hydro lock in search and see what you find. doesn't answer your question about how to get the air out but it's all I have right now.

best thing you can do do is add lots of coolant and drive it till it gets hot. pull over make sure you are still above the min line, add more if needed.
The cap is pressurized so it is best to start a little over the max line.
check again when cold.
Basically as far as I know when a coolant flush is completed that is all they do, dump it and till full. Run it till hot, recheck.
They have the benefit of a completed dump and knowing the full capacity, but that doesn't mean they get it right.
I think running the heater is a good idea too.
