I am looking into purchasing a relocation kit but can't decide which one to buy and which one, single filter vs dual? Has anyone done this and which kit has worked for you/or not!

I use a Trans-Dapt dual on both my 5.8 truck & in my 92 5.0 Mustang. You can take a look at some pics in my album for the truck mounting. The less expensive systems have a lot of casting flash & require some grinding/smoothing of the passages, but are quite serviceable.

Thanks David for the feedback. I have to scope out where I am going to relocate the filter to so I can decide on the length of hoses and track down available suppliers. I'll try to find a Trans-Dapt supplier here.

Got mine from Summit. Came with everything. I will in the future upgrade the hoses & fittings to something better. (swivels ANs & higher grade hose) The supplied push on style lasted over 10 years with my mustang before growing a drip. Summit's got other brands as well.

 

Seems to be a lot of different types out there. I am going tomorrow to see a couple hands on. i will be checking for hose and fitting quality. Thanks for the heads up.

David, do you have any pics of where you located the filter as it might be a challange to find enough room under the hood with very limited space. I am going to crawl under when I get a chance to see if there is any space along a frame. Problem is the hose length and of course the convenience factor is gone.

Its on my drivers' side frame rail close to the steering box. I trimmed a bit of the fender liner & let the filters protrude slightly into the well. One of the other members said that its similar to late model mounting, but I don't know. I've got plenty of clearance. I cranked the wheel hard right & took measurements as I mocked it up. The hardest part was trimming the hose to produce a even curve from the adaptor to the remote without kinks. That's why I would like to use braided hose & swivels, in order to shorten the length.

I did run across a thread/article somewhere, where the mounting was back under the cab & inside the frame rail near the tranny. But that would take more hose than what comes with the kit.(2 lengths, about 2ft each)

 

Nice job! Looks like replaceing the filters is a walk in the park as compaired to before. The only thing is I have an 04 and don't have the steering box but Ford decided to fill this area with something else(I can't remeber what, the truck is out now) I will check it in the morning and mabe take some pics to show you. It won't be as clean as your engine as we are still in the dead of winter up here and I oil the hell out the truck to preserve it.

If memory serves me well, I think your right about the space by the tranny frame.

Just have to get time to look when the truck is here.
