First Experience at Diesel Exhaust Fluid purchase.
#16
My display had said I was below 1/2 for some time. I have towed about 500 miles since seeing the message. Stopped at a Loves truck stop and went to their DEF island. The nozzle went into the truck but it would not pump. Seems that it requires a magnet around the filler neck before it will work. I guess big rigs and some pickups have this. Anyway, the manager came out and he had a magnet that slipped over the spout on the nozzle and the pump then worked. It took 2.7 gallons to fill up and the fluid was $2.79 a gallon. It seems that Ford needs to add this magnet to their pickups.
Went into the store, found the attendant, who had no clue what I was even talking about. So, he calls the manager.. who tells him to bring out the magnet... but, he does not know how to use, and neither did I ... so, back tomorrow!!
So, I guess you just push it down so it contacts the filler neck, or some such, while filling it? Definitely going back... as it was only like $2.69/gallon... in contrast to Ford parts counter where is grossly overpriced. Also, stopped at a another truck stop on the way home.. they were selling 2.5 gallons in a jug for $15.00... so, back to that Phillips station tomorrow, armed with your help, knowledge on how to do this!
Thanks for the post... like I said, wish I had read it yesterday!!
