Bad Mpg On Trips To Fla.

I have made 6 trips to Jupiter Fla. in the last 8 weeks. I am averaging around 17 mpg on each trip with cruise at 70 mph. I can average 18.5 mpg on trips to the Outer Banks at same speed in N.C. I guess my truck does not like to leave N.C. Also diesel fuel was 3.80 a gallon in Jupiter Fla. last weekend. Glad I filled my titan up in Ga. at 3.18 a gallon.

Just makes one wonder if the fuel in Florida is different. I know we switched to winter blend up here in Ohio.

I thought the same thing on the fuel. I have filled up in Ga. and S.C no difference. It is really weird, on the way down around Ga. line fuel mpg starts to drop. Return trip same thing but mpg goes up.

Hummm, well that suggests warmer temp/elevation difference or road surface, Florida uses some weird recycled material at times I noticed.

I would think that winter fuel would be more likely found in the Carolina's than Florida. My truck lost 2 mpg with the winter blend.

I'm just throwing out a few ideas. A road I take to Columbus Ohio has surface test pavement from ODOT. I noticed one section was like putting the brakes on from the resistance, another made you feel like you were floating along on a glass table.

Eventually your Titan tank will pay for itself with differences like that in the price of fuel

Our roads are like sandpaper. They use crushed shell to help with grip in the rainy season.

I was told we don't switch to winter fuel down here.

Best mileage is in Colorado?? Thin air?? Less wind resistance??
Colo summer 17.5 to almost 19
Colo winter 16.5 to almost 18
SoCal winter 14 to almost 16.5

Colorado winter is definately #1 diesel
SoCal winter is definately #2 diesel

Makes no sense to me.

jammer
