truck eating CPS's

My uncle is driving his powerstroke from west coast to east coast and he keeps having CPS problems. He has had to buy whatever sensors he could to keep going and now he has only gone 60 miles and truck dies and throws a cps code P0340. CPS circuit malfunction. Any input would be helpful. I never had repeat problems with CPS on either of my PSD's so I am at a loss to help him.

Is he buying cps from ford dealers? Those are the only ones that seem to be reliable. Also have you checked wiring? My guess is wiring is shorting out

That is what I am thinking as well. I am trying to get him to check a couple of other things to rule out IPR nut falling off, Shorted out Fuel heater, ICP failure
