I stumbled across a fairly unique looking truck today. Its a 68' Crewcab with a "short" shortbox and a 300 I-6. PO (I bought it) said it was one of 150 ordered by the Scott Paper Company out here in the northwest.
I was mainly just interested in the engine when I went to look, but this thing is pretty cool IMO. Not sure what my plans for her are at the moment (too many other projects), but I would be interested in hearing what other members know about them; production numbers, desirability, issues, etc. Anything helps.
Will hopefully have the warranty plate info and a couple of pics available tomorrow.
yea looking forward to seeing some pics of it i haven't seen any crew cabs with inline 6's is it just me or are they not to common? is it 4 wheel drive? i'd like to find another 67-72 crew cab in my area. if imay ask what condition is it in and how much did you get it for?
She's not a 4-WD. She has been sitting for 7 years and the paint is terrible but appears to be minimal rust (at least for this area).
I need to go pour some oil in the cylinders, change the crankcase oil, throw in a battery, disconnect the fuel line and run it into a clean can of gasoline...Then we'll see if she wants to turn/start. Wish me luck.
Okay, I have to admit I couldn't figure out how to insert a picture in a post. You can see some pictures I took in my Gallery search for (1968 Crewcab). And can someone explain how to insert a photo into a post please.

Seems unduly complicated but at least I know now
As I said, I'm not sure how much time I want to devote to this one. I was mainly interested in the engine when I went over to look; might just get her running in the truck and then see if I can sell her off to someone who is more interested in them. I love all Ford truck, but am basically a Slick Sixties guy. We shall see. I heard there was a Ford Crewcab specific site so I may investigate there too.
Thanks for the info. I didn't realize we were so parochial on this site I had actually found "them" already but they are slow to authorize new members. Maybe the holidays have the site monitors bogged down on approving new registrations.
I have her turning over and trying to start, but there is some leaking around the acceleration diaphragm. Looks like someone over tightened the screws on the carb in the past and caused the cover to bend. Looks repairable.
damn theres always deals out that way on alot of cars and trucks makes me want to move just so i can get them deals you don't ever see them in the east and if you do they are long gone by time you see it
Here is the warranty plate information. Can I please get a de-code?

Started her up and drove 20 mile to my dad's place. It was an adventure. Something is wrong in the steering so she turns like a battle ship. Clutch wouldn't disengage so I had to "speed shift" the whole way. Otherwise, not bad for sitting in someone's driveway since 2000'.
