I am unfamiliar with "Y" Block. I looked it up on Wikipedia. Interesting. It listed 5 different sizes, that is in cubic inch displacement. Which do you have?

I got two 272's. One is running in my 55 Town Sedan. I use it often even in winter when ever I haul more folks than will fit in the Ranger.

As far as I know all the hoods are the same, the trim is different but that`s about it.

Thanks everyone for your truck pics! Keep 'em coming!

The hoods are the same between the Ford and Mercurys. Just about everything is the same, especially the sheet metal and mechanicals, with the exception of a few trim changes and name plates.

1951 M1 Flattie starts after 37 years and moves "the old black truck" into shop for further work.
Cheers to All!

My driver is a 49 Merc Half ton, has been since 1978. I've done the body, twice, and the third go through hopefully will be this January; into the paint shop with new metal and back on the road. I'm hoping this will be the last time! Cheers. Michael.

I just recently found out that on the 49 Ford the running lights were located in the grill. The top outer corners. The 49 Merc has them out on the fenders. Just FYI

Since we are talking Mercs, I'm currently looking for a tailgate for my 54 M100. I'll be moving to the east coast of Canada this summer Nova Scotia to be exact, Where everything is covered in rust. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I haven`t see a Mercury tailgate for a very long time but I`ll keep my eyes open.
Maybe Donn Poole has a line on one.
