Taking Bets?
He says they took 'four times as long on the paint'. That means four minutes instead of one minute. I should know, I worked the San Jose line. You had one minute on the average to do what you needed to do. That included switching colors for the next vehicle.
That's a repaint. I poked around and found more hi-res photos that showed flaws in the paint that weren't factory-type flaws, but repaint flaws. Bottom of the driver's door is full of dust specks and the orange peel on the passenger side wouldn't have been acceptable enough for the truck to get off the end of the line. That tailgate screams "REPAINT!" to me. Besides, I think the lettering might have been red for a black truck and that wasn't an option as to what color the lettering was.
When someone ("An Employee") walked the line with his vehicle, we would time it to put it in the paint booth right before lunch. That way, we could spend a bit of time with it, getting the paint laid down right. It would then sit until the end of lunch before baking. Those paint jobs were just incredible.
I also agree with the engine statement, it would have had a '83 or '84 vintage block and no MSD on it. Would have had Ford ignition on it. It's a cobble job in my honest opinion. That big, wordy yakety-smakety he laid out on eGay has no documentation to back it up, making a cobble job all that more likely.
(edit)
Ya think it might should have a 6 digit DSO, too? Odd . . .

You wanna know what I really think?
"Hey! Look what I've overspent on buying and tricking out! The wife wants me to sell it (and all my other cr@p) but I don't want to!"
Just sayin' . . .
Quack . . .

I agree with RayStankewitz, it quacks loudly...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
'So I have talked about the fact that lots of old Cadillacs are actually more rare than cars considered to be out of reach top examples like Big Block Corvettes. Muscle car #s are even worse when compared to Cadillacs. I love one ad I read; "Rare 1967 GTO, One of 65,176 built" '
What were Ford's production numbers on XL F250's built in 1984?
Also, from the ad on Ebay: (emphasis added by me)
" Its concourse (sic) show car stuff done by the factory... its beyond anything on an 84 truck anyone has ever seen still and I will show it as it is. It has no excuses. Its 99% ISCA show perfect!... Since this was such prize for this new truck, they went to the extent of highly detailing everything"
Then frrom his "About me" page on Ebay: (emphasis added by me)
"Through years of collecting, modifying, racing, restoring, rebuilding, showing and wrenching, I consider myself earning the equivalent of a "PHD" from the school of hard knocks with cars. I learned the hard way what not to do and what to do. I have developed one of the most critical self trained eyes on earth when it comes to cars. I can spot trouble from 50 ft away, and know quality when I see it.... I have learned a "level of detail" that would drive most people crazy, and feel my cars, and the cars I work on reflect this. Perfection is what I strive for, although it will never be archived (sic) to my level in a car that actually starts and drives on a road. What a dilemma I am in, I want perfection and I want to drive it... There is only one thing in life I can say I truly know better than anything, even over my profession, and that is cars!"
Of course, if you look on his company website, he manufacturers telemarketing devices which probably explains his "Greatest thing since sliced bread" attitude in the ad,. LOL
Looking some more at the "attention to detail" and "99% ISCA show perfect"
FRONT LIFT BLOCKS

TRANNY SEAL LEAKING

FRAME PAINT FLAKING AND TOUCHED UP OVER RUST WITH A SPRAY CAN

REAR EXHAUST BRACKET WHACKED OFF WITH A TORCH

AND AS RAY POINTED OUT, DOUBLE STACKED BLOCKS (ACTUALLY SQUARE TUBING ON THE FACTORY BLOCK) IN THE BACK WITH A BIRD CR@P WELD JOB HOLDING THEM ON (leads me to think they have probably been spit out a time or two) NOT TO MENTION THE RUST AND ROAD WEAR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE AXLE

If it walks like, talks like one, it probably is a
Unused Bed. I was the first to do so for the photos with the Merlin Engine in the Crate but I had a big blanket under it.
Corvette Grand Sport
On his 63 Corvette Grand Sport page there is a picture of the engine and skid in the truck.
Where is that big blanket? He sounds like the salesman I got a 1991 Jeep Wrangler from. The spare tire was missing and ask him where it was, he said under the Jeep and this was a Jeep dealership.
