I just installed 4 new JVC speakers that Crutchfield was selling off at a huge discount. The installation was easy and the results are amazing.
The only difficulty was that they sent the wrong wiring adapters. They do not have specs for F-450s in there database and the F-350 adapters they sent did not fit my factory connectors. No real problem, I just cut and soldered the wires.
When you cut the wires to connect them, how did you know which wire was the positive to connect to the positive side of the speaker? Thanks

dpdad, did your truck come with the bed or did you cut the frame and install the dually bed. It is a very nice rig, Chet

Casey,
Crutchfield tech support had the wiring diagram and gave me the color codes over the phone. For my truck the color codes are:

Driver door speaker:
-light blue
+orange

Passenger door speaker:
-dark green
+white

Driver side rear speaker:
-tan
+grey

Passenger side rear speaker:
-brown
+orange

NOTE: All of the wires have colored stripes. Crutchfield supplied the stripe colors but they are really not needed. Just look for the predominate color.

Bonanza, my truck came with the bed already installed. I believe it was part of the Classy Chassis conversion (see my signature). I am not the original owner so I do not know much about the conversion, except that the bed is fiberglass.

You think that it made a big difference just changing the speakers?

A bigger surprise is in store for you once you run all of the speakers through a quality 4-channel amplifier (for the factory stereo, you'll also need quality high to low level converters, but they are worth it). The amplifier that is built into the factory stereo is a noisy one.
