97 f-150 lariet keyless entry problems
i purchased my 97 f-150 approx a year ago. didnt get remote keyfob. i ordered one online and when i go thru the process of cycling the ignition from acc to run it doen not go into programming mode. i have tried doing the 5 times and 8 times i have tried hitting the door lock button first. but nothing. i have noticed that under the dash to the right of the sterring column there is 3 or 4 wires that seem to have been cut. are there a module that those wires go to that may have been removed. the wires are to the right of the column . i have owned lots of ford vehicles and have never had this much problem programming a remote for one. any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. to the right of the steering wheel is normally the trailer brake connector, and the ODB computer code plug........to program, do this-----
#3. Go through the procedure for programming your vehicle to accept the FOB that you still have. When you do this, all the transmitters will be deleted form the vehicle's system and only the one that you re-enter will work.
#4. If you don't know how to reprogram your remote key FOB's, it goes something like this:
Start with your ignition key in the locked postion.
Turn the key to the off position and make a mental note of the angle the key is at.
Begin turning the key to the "On" position and say "1".
Turn the key back to the "off" position and back to "On" and say "2".
Keep doing this until you reach "8" with the key in the "On" position and leave the key in the "On" position.
The dorr lock will cycle down and up to indicate you are ready to program the Fob's.
Within 10 seconds press either the door "lock" or "unlock" button on the Fob. The locks will again cycle to indicate the transmitter has been programmed in.
Continue with any additional Fob's you may wish to use (up to 4)
Turn the key to the off position.
Only the Fob's programmed at this session will be active - the lost one will no longer work. If you find it later on, all Fob's will have to be rentered at the same time to make it work again.

First of all you have to look at the build date ,if it is dated as mine 2/96 then you have to use the 96 program procedure which entails taking the lower dash around the steering columb and locating two wires and shorting them . I think that's the way you have to do them until 7or9/96 build date and after you do the turn key thing
