OldBird: that's logic there!!! I had a SM; they come tOOOO often.

Guys: to save some time; I have thoroughly searched this board & others but can't find this.

I am looking for a sticky or etc. to give me pics or diagnosis of any part of the 7.3.
Looks like there should be a sticky on how to test parts w/pics; injectors, etc; I see one on GP's.

Any help?? Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hussler: thanks; will try to download; have snailup/dialup.

Rick & others: how do I ohm the injector while it is still in the head? Is that possible? Ohm Meter: Pos wire to injector wire; Neg to ground?

Thanks Tater
Will try the download, maybe I can find something there.

PS did a test with a light & also a hot wire to GP's all worked except one; get my harnesses & VC gaskets tomorrow; if rain holds off, will have the 250 humming by Friday.

If the UVCHes are connected to the injectors, you put the Pos probe on the injector terminal on the harness (second from outside) and the neg probe on the center (ground) terminal. If they're not, you just put one probe on each pin on the injector.

On each valve cover connection there are five pins. The outermost pins (pins 1 & 5) are for the glowplugs. They should not have continuity with each other or the center three. The center three are for two of the injectors in each bank. The ohm reading between each outermost injector(pins 2 & 4) and the center pin (pin 3) should be about 3.2 ohms (if I remember correctly. Pins 2 & 4 should also not have continuity with each other.

UPDATE

Update: As indicated that some of the wire harnesses were fried; so this portion needed to be replaced no matter what other problems existed.

Anyway: weather was permissive today; so began the process. Replaced harnesses & tried to start; same scenario, but that's OK.

I did not have the VC's attached cause I wanted to check oil distribution; turbo tube was not attached to VC; would that have made a difference?

Will proceed to remove fuel filter & clean & re-ORing & during the process will remove, clean & possibly replace IPR (have a spare on hand).

Looks like decent weather next week: will start pulling parts & doing the job.

Thanks for all the help

Update

My F550/6.0 had the same problems that the 250 has; so I removed the F550FICM & repaired it according to Dr Quad's info & it started right up.

My logic took over & I thought well, I got a running 350 that has an <ACRONYM title="Injector Driver Module">IDM</ACRONYM> that I can swap to the 250 & BINGO; started right up & purred like a <ACRONYM title="Catalytic Converter or Cat Rebel">cat</ACRONYM>.

Got it running; will locate an <ACRONYM title="Injector Driver Module">IDM</ACRONYM>.

The VC harnesses were necessary parts to replace anyway, since some were fried.

Thanks for all the help
