F 350 vs F450

The strengh between the 110 and the 80 are marginal! I think the issue is the 110 was developed for low torque slow moving trucks and motorhomes. Ring gear size is about 3/4" difference and the axle shafts are the same or larger in the 80 depending on what 80 you have. Ford did have to deal with a lot of leaks on the 110 & 135. Also the 110 limited ground clearence. The aftermarket had no support for these larger axles such as lockers and other traction devices.
Plus those 19.5" tires ride rough and are hard to find. When off road with an 20,000 trailer the 19.5 had zero traction when aired down. The new truck with aired down BFG will take me any where. And if I lose a tire everybody has them.
If the 80 works and does the job why complain.
I'm very pleased with my '11 450 it is twice the truck as my old '08 which had the 110 axle.
I'm not sure why some have beleive that the truck has been diminished. If in fact it is a F350 tow boss so what. I bought the truck for the motor and the ability to safley tow my 48' trailer deep into Mexico.

By the way, your truck looks great and I agree the 2011 is a better F450 for 95% of buyers. Any more pics?

Sportcraft - I know you've talked about you low MPG for a while now and I just saw your comment about people saying your tires look low. I was getting about 13.5 - 14 in mine (i'm still under 1500 miles). I decided to check the air pressures and was shocked to find that they were at 42 psi give or take from the dealer. I aired up to 65 and 70 (front and rear) and have seen a farily good increase in mpg (now at about 16 normal driving - not too heavy on the throttle, not to lite). Most of my driving is small town, and country roads (twisty, turny and up and down rolling hills).
Have you checked your pressures? Again - I wouldn't have thought to since it was new from the dealer - but I was shocked.

I LOVE my F450! The only thing I would change is the fenders in the rear and I'm waiting to see what the aftermarket world comes up with or just replace to 2010 stock.
I have 22.5" Compass rims coming with big rig tires - can't wait to fill up the fenders which actually have grown on me and maybe it will cause me to rethink the switch.
I have a F250 Harley and it was really a great truck but gutless.
I love the turning radius...and the axles are rated to handle anything the 2010s or early can...get ready for the number guys but I have yet to see someone say they aren't OVER towing with both older and newer models. Most never hit the limits of the towing capability.
Fuel miles are better then my 250 and I'm surprised someone is getting 11.2 in town...I'm getting over 14.5 in town and I drive in stop and go.
