Fog light switch? Factory options? 53'

Use a regular headlight switch, or one of these auxiliary switches that clamps to the lower lip of the dash:
For mine, I didn't have a Throttle Cable installed with my new engine set-up, so I put a "T" pull **** on a second headlight switch and put it in the throttle cable position - looks just like it should. It controls my hood orniment light and future fog lamps.
OBTW, the **** caps that are on the aftermarket switch and cable ***** (headlight, throttle, choke, cigarette lighter, and plain) all pop off and snap back on. So, you can take a "T" off a throttle cable ****, and swap it out with the "H" on a headlight switch pull.

I'd just go up to NAPA and buy and El Cheepo headlight switch, and get throttle cable **** and generic bezel from Carpenter (or C&G) and use them on the new switch.
Actually now that I think about it your 53 doesn't have letters on the ***** so any **** will work and put a 53 "Lghts" or "Throttle" bezel (or whatever you prefer - there are plain as well) on it with the off the shelf headlight switch.

The second **** in marked "Throttle" and has the "T" **** (I have 51 ***** but used 53-56 bezels) is actually my fog lamp light switch!!!!!! Looks exactly like an OEM throttle cable instal (minus the wrong year bezel)

I realize that you want to install in the dash, and these have an integral clamp which mounts the switch below the dash.I'll bet the clamp could be removed, allowing you to attempt to install in the dash.

Not sure what the truck may have had. The old cars had a twist type switch under the lip of the dash with the twist part pointed down. To my knowledge there were never any true FORD fog lights only dealer installed and ford approved and were many manufacturers.
I know the twist type were used on cars until at least 50. You see the twist type switches often for sale. They don't take up much room and are mostly hidden from view.

Julie, looks like that's the plan. There seems to be a ton of cheapy pull switches. I found one that uses a 30amp fuse mounted to the outside of the switch, (I don't have a fuse box) so if it blows it will easy to replace. I also like the idea of using a stock bezel. If I remember correctly, the bezel screws on to the switch holding it to the dash. Do you happen to know what diameter the mounting stem needs to be?

I remember that when I used the "Throttle" labelled ('56) bexel I had to dremel out the little lip inside that was there to keep the bezel from turning on the actual throttle cable.
You may have to do something like that. Also, as I recall, I had to round off the corners of the switch retaining nut to get it to fit inside the bezel indent. You might have to do that too unless you have an original bezel nut (folks that sell the bezels sell those too). The bezel nuts were usually used with the wiper switches, and the headlight switches.
If you use the original aftermarket switch retaining nut and round off the corners, also, cut two slots in the top face so have something to grab onto to tighten it (I use long nose pliars).

Yea, the holes I'm talking about are the stock holes, from the factory. I already have a cap/filler plug in one of the holes (just to the right of the steering wheel), which I believe is the stock location for the throttle pull. The other one that's empty is the start button hole on the far left. Most likey this will be where I'm planning to put the fog light switch.

I'm getting into this post late but I wanted to add my thoughts. Why not use a head light switch or what ever and use the plain ignition switch bezel and then install into a blank hole.
I did this once with a 56 that had the wrong heater in it and the switch was mounted in the dash in a hole put there by the PO. I used the ignition chrome bezel with no markings on it for the heater switch. It looked real nice almost factory!

Thanks Julie. Yea a started buttom "look-a-like" type of "constant on or constant off" switch was also a thought.
Thanks for all the ideas guys. You're all on the right track of what I'm trying to accomplish. Keep it looking stock... with stock looking switches...in the stock mounting locations. Keep the ideas coming!!!
