1994 F150 4.9 Manual Transmission

WHY WONT ANYONE RESPOND ? I recently purchased a -1994- F150- 4.9 -M5OD-R2- I recently experienced a stiffness in shifting which I learned the hard way that there was gear oil that had run very low and resulted in the loss of 3rd /4th gear .The steps I took are as follows---- Replaced the shifter ball socket bushings purchased from dealership,(plastic rings and spacers that actually cradle both the top and bottom of shifter ball) Next dropped the tranny and removed top and discovered the shifting forks were worn ,since the gears looked to be good condition I opted to purchase a the top portion of transmission from a local truck salvage yard ,put it back in and still had no 3rd or 4th.We dropped it again and now am waiting on the two forks which im am going to replace on the original top portion of transmission and see what happens. If anyone has experienced this scenario and has any input that might save me some time I would appreciate it.

Im having tranny problems.with the EXACT same truck!! except my truck froze into 4th gear and after awhile I was able to take it out of 4th and drive it like normal, but every time I try 4thafterthe truck warms up it gets stuck again. I'm gonna try replacing the forks syncros bushings and maybe linkage... good luck sorry to hear about the probl ems.

deja vu all over again.been here done this got the t-shirt.do yourselves both a favor.find a good used zf5.

if your a glutton for punishment:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...cs-inside.html

but the folks there are wrong as to the reason.i never rested my arm on the shift lever.the trans is just a POS.after i replaced the forks they just went bad again and then the syncro's crapped the bed in the replacement used trans.knowing what i know now,i would have swapped in a zf5 and still had a good truck for the last year or two i kept it.hindsight is 20/20.
(either way i don't miss stick shifts at all.)
