Rear Dana 60 axle nut size

I was wondering if anyone knows the size of the axle nut on a 1973 Ford F-250 Highboy, Dana 60 rear end. It would be the one holding on the bearings and the rear drums. I have been looking for a socket for it and can't find one that big.
Thanks,
Mike

I just had a neighbor bring over his calipers and micrometers and we got 2.556 inches or 64mm but it has rounded corners and I don't know if a socket will fit.
I'm going to call my local parts store and find out it they have one and see what happens.

I have bought a few from Napa in the past. They have the rounded corner. Can't remember the exact size of the 60, my 61 was a 2.5" I believe, it was $24.

Some places will rent you one for a couple bucks.

Yeah, a good NAPA truck store will have one to fit. These are not precision sockets but for axle nuts where a lot of torque is not required.

That is the one I picked up and I finished the job and installed self adjusters while I was in there.

The bad thing was the pads were new but one of the hold down springs broke and was making a lot of noise and jacked the shoe at an angle.

I purchased a new spring kit and new shoes and the socket took about 2.5 hours from start to finish, but I have never done anything like that type of truck brake before. Lucky the drum had enough meat on it to turn them out, but it is the last time for that. Napa said the next time I have them turned they will be thin so time for new ones.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I couldn't have done it with out you guys.

Again Thank You!
