Moog or FoMoCo ball joints?

The inspection mechanic tells me I need new left side upper and lower ball joints on my 02 F 250 PSD 4WD. I can purchase either the FoMoCo ball joints from the stealership or Moog lifetime replacement guarantee ball joints, both for the exact same price (with my discount on the Moog).

My question is which ones are better or at least the better way to go? A lifetime replacement guarantee sounds good but I use my truck for work so if I am down for two days once a year to replace a cheaper ball joint, I loose work, so I would rather put the better one that may last two years on to start.

Also, is there anything else I should take care of while I have the ball joinst off as far as preventative maintenance goes?

Thanks FTE!!!!

partsguy ed

I went with Partguy ed on the greasable OEM ball joints. He sells a kit that has all the seals that you will want to replace along with the ball joints, nice piece of mind having everything back together and resealed. The only thing I had to do was buy 90 degree zerks for the uppers.

I've had a set of Moog's fail on me within two years of being installed, but my XRF joints are still working great.

Ed, I've been on your list but I will give the Ford's greasables a shot next when needed.

Ed you know I love you but after 35 years of beating ball joints to pieces I have determined that moog are the best. If you would like for me to test some OEM greasable I would for a nominal fee.

Another vote for Moog, i've installed many sets in all different applications, including our Super Duties, and i've alway been impressed with their toughness. I have wanted to try out the XRF's tho, but cash always seems to favor Moog.
