Transmission???

Hey guys!! Last night on the way home from a 6 hour drive my transmission started acting weird! The truck revs high but RPMs stay around 2,000 but not much power once it shifts into overdrive all is good again at about 50 MPH. So this morning same thing stopped by Autozone no codes. So with a heavy heart and time constraints I dropped her off at the stealership across the street from my work. What are your guys thoughts so I can sound like I'm not an idiot when they want $5,000 to fix it!! I have not heard the damage yet I just threw out that number!!

Well its hard to say how the person who had it before you drove it but most likely it just needs a good flush and filter change. It should of been done before you bought it and about now anyway. How long have you had the truck for?

I have had it 2 years! The transmission a a slip on it about a year ago for me to find out it was low on fluid so I carefully got it back to normal level and I checked it last night it was normal level. It isn't slipping like it was it is really weird how it is acting. Yeah I have no idea how the previous owner cared for it!

Well that is good news sorry i got busy and couldn't get back with you some more. I still recommend you get the transmission flushed soon and replace the filter. At least do an at home drain and filter change if you don't want to pay for the flush.

To flush the trans completely is not a DIY job. The pan drop is. Keep in mind, your trans holds 14 qts of fluid. Dropping the pan only replaces about 5. I have checked EVERYWHERE in town and no one does a trans service on these trucks except the dealer! I bring mine in ever 30,000 miles, pay them the $150 and get it done. I do tow heavy and daily though. 94,000 miles and not one single issue!
