I can do a few 1986 and 1987 vehicles, but the odds that Diablo has a program for any given ECU is slim.

Diablo Performance Chip SALE for 1988 - 1995 Ford trucks, SUVs, vans and cars!

Once installed, it overrides the original ROM in the ECU with its own, which we program. The chip remaps the ignition curves and advances timing curves by anywhere from 3-8 degrees, depending on load and rpm. The fuel curve is remapped by an average of 2% leaner than the original curve, mainly because the factory settings are set rich in order to cool the catalytic converter for low-grade fuel. High octane gasoline burns more complete and cooler than lower-grade gasoline. We trim the excess fuel based on high octane gasoline and by doing so we create a better air/fuel ratio, which equals more power, i.e. more efficient running engine.

For electronic transmissions (most 94-up cars and trucks), the line pressure is increased, firming up shifts. Shift points are optimized, controlled by mph at partial throttle and by rpm at wide-open throttle. The shift delay is reduced, allowing gears to engage quicker and torque convertor lockup parameters are adjusted.

The benefits?

You will notice quicker acceleration and better throttle response. You will notice while you’re taking off from a standstill and while you’re passing someone out on the road. Since your acceleration is greatly improved your highway passing time is drastically reduced. You can now make a pass with confidence and not worry about oncoming traffic.

Transmission: For vehicle’s with the automatic transmission, the installation of the Diablo Sport chip will give you a firmer, more responsive shift pattern. Most consumer complaints are about the “sluggish” factory shift points. The Diablo chip gives your vehicle a progressively firmer shift pattern. While you’re driving around town you’ll still receive the comfortable shift pattern but when your vehicle demands performance during hard acceleration, the chip will give you a firmer shift pattern. Not only does this improve your transmission performance but this will also improve the longevity of your automatic transmission components as well as reduced transmission temperatures.

Thanks Ken....But I think that, after reading a lot of posts here on the subject, I will forgo this upgrade, as it does not seem to be a good "bang for the buck" upgrade on an older, speed density, higher mileage, 302...

One quick thought though...I am in the market for a newer F150, possibly a 95 or 96 ext cab....Can u say that any year around there is any better than any other from your perspective of performance tuning? (understand that my idea of performance tuning is making something more efficient than stock, with better performance, while not sacrificing mileage or driveability). You can read that to mean, what model/year combo would best be best suited to some easy bolt on performance additions (like a chip for one example)

Thanks Ken..I know I speak for many when I say that we appreciate what you do..!!!

Ronnie

Would the chip decrease emissions since you are running leaner ?

And with more advance timing it should burn better.. Right ?

Okay... glad I could be of service. Bang for buck is relative. :-)

1995 and 1996 are apples to oranges. 1996 uses EEC-V and 1995 uses the EEC-IV. Both can be chipped but the EEC-V is a much more capable unit and can be reflashed.

Do you mean Superchips -vs- Diablo for recommendations? This thread was primarily started to announce a Diablo sale though I can discuss the difference if that's what you want to know.

Let me know the ECU code and I'll tell you if we can chip it. The 1992 computer is not flashable. The only way to change it is to replace the prom or add a chip.

Here are the instructions for locating it:
