Are you talking about the FIPK (fuel injection performance kit), or just the drop in filter? I know they make the drop in filter, I have one in my 96. Im also pretty sure they make the FIPK for it too (but its overrated from the responses ive gotten in the past). Check out MotorHaven, they should have whatever you are looking for. BTW, the drop in filter dramatically changed the performance of my 96. That silly MAF sensor is damn sensitive.

I personally prefer the fipk, I put one in my 95 5.0L and I wouldn't want anything else. The kit I got costs about $135, yours should cost the same, and it comes with everything you need. If you are mechanically inclined it won't take much more then an hour to install. Truck performance.com does have one available for the 96 5.8L.

K&N Air Filter System 1996 Bronco
I personally have the drop-in filter in my '92 302 and thats all I intend to do. No matter how you look at it, the FIPK may be nice but it still draws warmer air in because of its all under-hood design. That may not be a problem for those who live in areas where summer is 75-80 degrees but when you are running in summer temps that are pushing 95+ your under-hood temps are gonna be that much higher than the air outside the engine compartment. Any chance I can get to get cooler air into the intake system I'm gonna go for. Its a time honored performance improvement that need not be sacrificed for flow improvements.

I fabricated my own FIPK using a 6" dia X 10" long K&N filter. I think the filter itself was designed for one of the GM diesels. My system still utilizes the twin intake tubes and the filter settup resides in the same location as the original. I fab'd up a structure that plenums the twin tubes to the K&N. The PCV system intake is incorporated within and I also re-utilized the stock cold air scoop/tubing to bring fresh/cool air in. The cool intake system and fliter settup is not in a closed system so if the cool intake is not adequate then the filter can draw any additional air needed from the engine compartment. I plan on buying one of those K&N prefilter socks to slip over the filter for some additional insurance. They say the socks will reduce flow some but the filter I used is so huge that it won't make any real difference in flow.
