Can I run the truck with the turbo being broken? Will it just run like an older model 7.3 or could it mess something up? I ran it after I lost it for a bit and it blew smoke out of the exhaust and the temperature of the exhaust coming out the pipe was a lot hotter than usual.

I also got better fuel mileage after this happened. Could I possibly have some HPOP issues surfacing? I could not hear my turbo so I have threw it off on that, but as I continue to read other great posts from everyone on this board it looks as though it could possibly be my HPOP as well.

I checked the rear and side of my truck to see if the smoke had any oil residue in it, but it was so minimal that it was not leaving any.

noooooooooo you canot drive the truck if you turbo actually ate it, once there plumbed for a turbo it becomes its main life source take that away and it will starve for air and your egts will run threw the roof. youll cook the pig inside out. impossible you got better mileage with a down turbo ASSUMING its actually cooked, its like going from running a marathon and no breathing restrictions to going to breathing threw a mcdonalds straw. youd die!

Oh my rusty, that is funny.

I like Diesel Power too, but the problem with them is, you cannot trust any 7.3 info. It's people paying big money to get their product featured.

They wrote an article like the adrenalin was the only HPOP upgrade for an OBS.

They will also tell you in 2 separate magazines how HEUI Injectors don't work.
The first one they messed up really bad, and they messed up again correcting it.

Apparently, according to diesel power, we are all idiots because we don't need an HPOP to run HEUI injectors, they just "assist" in the injection event.
