Pinging

I am getting pinging under moderate load but not when I let off and not at full throttle. I think it is the knock sensors. I watched the spark timing on my scanguage and the spark timing when it pings is in the mid 20's. When I hit the throttle it drops to about 10 degrees. It does not seem to be sensing the knock or at least not consistently. I wonder if there is a way to monitor the knock sensors with the scanguage? I don't think this is good for the engine. The knock can be stopped by changing the timing so I don't think there is anything wrong with the engine. If it were a vacuum leak or some other problem I don't think it would go away.

You CAN monitor the knock sensor, but I forget what the PIDs are called.

The knock sensor algorithm can only take 4 degrees of timing out. Sounds like something else is going on, such as a vacuum leak.

Well I don't think it is taking that 4 degrees out. So where do I start?
