"88" f-150, Fuel Supply- intermittent, starts, runs short time fuel stops pumping.

My f-150 w/dual tanks (donot use rear tank) has been a great gal. Always gets me home....Now I overheated her on a short run. Got home ,left her running and got some coolant in her; then parked her till next day. She would not start- out of gas....refueled her; started up and when I dropped her in gear, She quit..Would turn over, but no start. etc.. Checked spark, fuel. Again she starts, run a short time and just dies..My chilton has been a fair/good referance. But have not been able to fix issue. If she JUST would not start I would replace "whatever".. But the start/stop-start/stop has me confused. Help!

It would be one of four items:
Bad EEC Computer.
Bad fuel pump.
Bad TFI module.
Bad PIP sensor.

Any codes?

The codes may help you find the problem without spending too much $.

You say you overheated it? When it wont start, check for power to the fuel pumps. Start by pulling the relay or fuse then test, then try to get at your connections and make sure you have power and ground going to your fuel pump. You could have weakened a wire or contact point. Seem someone do this recently and threw almost a 1000 bucks at a 5.00 fix.
As subford said, there is a list of things it could be. Your TFI, Fuel pump it self. MAke sure you have power and ground to the pump and see what goes

Pull the codes next, find the "EEC Test" connector on the drives side inner fender and put a jumper between Self-Test In and Sig-Rtn pins, turn the key to run(don't start motor), and count the flashes on the check engine light.
