Bought a 56 F-100 Project- Question

As stated I bought this project truck, it is a 56 with a volare front clip and 390 FE with a C6, stock '56 rear end, frame completely boxed, I don't have a steering column and was going to buy the version from Mid Fifties thats similar to the Flaming River and IDIT but much less expensive can anyone tell me the correct length to order. Also looking to lower the rear about 3.5 - 4 inches I bought the adjustable spring hangers from Mid Fifites but have yet to install them, will they lower it 3.5" or can I pull a couple leafs out also? I am going to have a lot of questions on this project..lol everytime I look at something I'm going to have a lot of questions for you guys, Brake Booster, change rear to 9" or 8.8 disc, etc. etc. and does anyone make clean motor mounts for the 390, mine look like frankenstein made them. Wiring, ? American Auto wire? Painless?
Thx, Don

I can vouch for the American Autowire harness. I've installed several of them, and find them MUCH easier to work with than the Painless harnesses, primarily because each circuit is separate from the fuse box. You mount the box where you want it, then run each circuit from the load to the box. No 20lb bundle of wires to deal with all at once makes for a "painless" harness installation.

I went with a 30 inch tilt column. 30 inch overall, including the adapter. It fits perfectly.
I don't know if I can help you on the rear spring hangers. Mine were already installed when I bought the frame. They are adjustable, and set at the lowest setting, the rear appears to sit at factory ride height, or close to it, which is what I'm after.
