7000 is a little heavy but make sure you watch your gauges. I talked to Jody this summer about it. He says it's fine just keep an eye on your temps.

You should be OK as long as you don't excess the EGT and Boost limits..by watching your gauges..

If you ask me your tunes are not correct. You can tow in 80E but not in 80T. I would call Jody and talk to him, he can fix it but you may need to send it back a few times or get live tuned. I have to tow in stock or I will smoke up the load to much, my stock smokes enough.

IMO the shift strategies are all wrong to tow that much in 80e. Not a trans expert but im thinking it might not like it either. Id think towing 7000# you wouldn't need to be in such a hurry. You could do it i guess, just watch those egts and don't lug it. If you haven't regeard then those 35" tires aren't helping the cause.

Only difference in the tunes should be trans shift points. Need to send it back, maybe its not the 80 t. 80 t extends the shift points out not to shift to soon. If it works in the 80e better it is shifting earlier so it makes me believe its not the same tune. Good luck I love mine

ya i do believe that my 35's hurt my towing performance, and its not that im in a hurry i just feel like it should pull better its a real beast when driving around unloaded but with my trailer is just seems a bit sluggish!!

35s and pulling 7K will make the truck feel like its pulling 10k. I personally would not tow in 80E. The tow modes i have (40Tow and 80 Tow) will drag out "drive" a good 5-7mph before it shifts into OD. Which helps a tone to keep it in its power range especially with 35s and going up any inclines. Whereas the 80E will shift into OD normal, which will cause the tranny to hunt for the right gear. Just my .02

I'd be leery about towing in 80E since the shifting is harder. I wouldn't want jerk around my trailer like that.

I've towed my ATV trailer with bikes on it in the 80E but it was half that weight. I usually switch to the 60T for better shifts.

The question was no power in 80t I thought? It should pull better because of shift in 80t then 80E. If you have no power in 80t then you have a problem with the tune! But I aggree with above, you should be towing in 40t or 60t with you tires and weight to be safe.

Jody's tow tunes feel weaker than his econo tunes simply because the throttle response is slower and the shifting is set to a higher point, IMO. At least that is the way it feels with mine. It isn't as sensitive to pedal depression which is part of the tow strategy so you don't try to get to top speed instantly and the shift points are at a higher rpm. Hence I do HATE to use the tow tunes but I have to.

I can't tell a lot of difference taking off with 40T or 80E with a load,it does pull the hills better in 80e but I think it would lead to more problem in the long run

If I'm in hills etc. then it's in a tow tune - either 40T or 60T - with 7,000lbs on FLAT land, I might switch to 80E - I've done it, but I figure the tow tunes safeguard my transmission. So the question becomes, is 5 minutes (or less) worth the risk of toasting your tranny?

IMO you need to just contact Jody at DP and let him know your problem/question and let him tell you what realy needs to be done since it is his tuner we are talking about.
