Purpose of second air dam looking thing

What's the purpose of the large plastic piece that is mounted across both frame rails and sticks down on the front of the truck?

Has anyone removed it or torn it off yet?

I've got a real good feeling it won't make it through the winter on my truck....

I'll buy that explanation, due to the lack of a better one. It IS vertical, like 90* to the bottom of the truck so it could be for diverting or smoothing out the air passing under the truck

You could take it off for the winter while you are plowing through that Dakota snow. You are not going to get very good mpg's anyway in winter with local driving.
Please try to get rid of that snow before june as I plan to tour your state.Badlands,Black Hills, etc.

I had thought about doing what you suggest. It's already pretty beat up from hunting a few weeks ago.

Supposed to have 4" of snow by morning, and another 4" by Turkey Day. Looks like another long winter, just like last year.

I commute to work 80 mi every day...the last thing I want to do is remove the dam from the truck on the side of the road in the middle of a snow storm because a hard drift or hard plow drift took it half way off.
