Went to go start my truck the other morning after it got cold. All it did was click once and did not start. Everything else worked, lights, stereo, heater. There seemed to be lots of power. Anyways after numerous attempts it finely just fired right up. This has been going on for a few days now. Ive cleaned the battery and the ground that attaches to the chassis. also looked at the starter connections and dont see corrosion. I'm not sure what it could be now. It works once its warmed up too. OH this is a 2002 5.4 ltr 4x4 f-150.

Batterys can be misleading,Although lights etc work,there may not be enough amperage to engage the starter.If its more than 3 years old,I would at least have it checked.

Always start by cleaning the battery post and cable ends. Then make sure the battery is fully charged. I have helped others start their car simply by sticking my keys between the post and cable to have the car start with no apparent corrosion. Hope this helps...

 

Yep, sounds a lot like a bad connection.
