I am flashing back to VXCF4 with in the next week or 2, thats when I get the unit from PHP. I have been waiting sice 9/21/10!

After doing a lot of research i am keeping my older flash, as there are too many reports of a 2-3mpg drop w the new flash. I get 20 mpg on hwy and great throttle response and power...so if it ain't broke i'm not going to fix it. .02

Fellas,
I just spoke to a diesel tech at my local Ford dealership about gettting the latest flash for my truck. He said that once he updates my truck with the latest flash if i go upload my SCT tunes that it would completey overwrite what he has done and their wouldn't be any benefit. Also, he mentioned that the new flash (or any) has never ever fixed a hard start.
Now does this sound right??

the SCT will store the new flash as stock. If you use the SCT flash then your wasting your money getting the new Ford flash. But you wont loose the new flash. you can always put your truck back to stock with the new flash. YOU MUST PUT YOUR TRUCK BACK TO STOCK BEFOR EVER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER OR THEY MITE OVERWRITE YOUR SCT FLASH. THEN YOUR SCREWED.

Interesting.....I get about 20mpg with latest flash on freeway. I am more in the "fix it before it breaks" camp then "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Seems to be a lot of fixes in the new flash, but just my 02.

It's always been the rule to return your truck to stock, even between tunes, before returning it to a dealer for ANY reason. Cheap insurance.

that's the strategy in my truck and it runs great. i heard from my tuner that it was a keeper.

I wish I could get my factory flash back, once it was reflashed at the dealer I have gone from 19mpg too 15, pulling my 32 ft travel trailer 15mpg to 9 to 10 mpg. I have a 2005 Ford SD 4x4 6.0 diesel. How can I get it back?
