Hey guys, I just completed a DSII conversion, and I'm in the process of removing all the unnecessary crap from my engine compartment (I'm waiting to get that done before I post my write up, for those of you that are waiting for it.)
My question is, since I no longer have to pass emissions in my state, can I remove my EGR valve?
My smog pump and my catalytic converter are already gone, so, I was thinking that I could perhaps remove the EGR valve and have one less thing under my hood. Is it do-able and/or worth it? And can I just mount the carb directly to the intake? Or would I have to fabricate something if I removed it?
After the final required inspection on my truck I had it built without the EGR and AIR but I did have a high-flow, 3-way Cat installed. Nothing is lost with one of those Cats. Even without an inspection, removal of the emissions components is technically a no-no though.
A functional EGR can actually give a slight increase in the torque of an engine.
With a 300 I6, torque is all we really have, so might as well try maximizing it.
