How much exhaust steam?
Do you see coming out of her butt when you first start her up? Mine likes to make lots of steam at start up when it is below 50...and I'm worried. (I'm kinda attached to this one.)

"Steam" comes out with more volume and umph with the mods I have. Has been in the 20s and 30s in the morning and she makes a cloud out the tailpipe that diassapears after a couple minutes of driving. Normal.

Water is a byproduct of the catalytic converter. Whether or not that water is produced at startup because the engine is running rich when it's cold (the colder it is out, the richer the engine has to run at cold startup), or that the water collected in the muffler from the day before, I dunno...

Mine does the same. My cousin is a super duty mechanic and said it is normal. He thinks it has something to do with the extra two cylinders heating the cool exhaust up quicker and causing more condensation. I don't know for sure, but I do know to trust him.

I have a very short exhaust and an X3... until it warms up it steams so much I could make the car next to me disappear when I hit the throttle... normal stuff.

Okay, good to know. I thought I had was having real problems here. I also didn't realize that the headers and muffler would make a large effect too. Probably should have thought of that...

On a cold morning startup my 74' with the little stock 302 would put up a fog more than my SD. It has dual exhaust, glasspacks and no converters.
