Has anyone here installed long tube headers on their truck?I have a 02 Screw 2WD with 5.4 motor. After researching I definitely want the long tubes over the shorties. So far I have an Edge programmer,BBK underdrive pulleys and Flex lite Efans. If anyone is running them, which brand out of Pacesetter and OBX are better?Anything else is out of my price range. Also has anyone noticed a difference in the performance of their truck after installation ?
I have OBX and i love them, they look good, fit great, and opened up the truck alot.. Im down to a 16.1 with my sig truck, and i need to re custom tune it... I know i can get to the 15's now.
Where in the powerband did you feel the greatest gains? Will I need to send my Edge to Gryphon to get a custom tune?I`m running the Gotts intake mod now but I have an "ebay" type WAI I may install after headers but I dont want to run too lean.
My gains where everywhere, but im not the best to ask. I had 4.6l manifolds on my 5.4l since i put it in.... So the flow capacity was much improved over the manifolds i was using. I knew the 4.6l manifolds where holding me up considerably.
Im not sure on if you have to have a custom tune, i know i do because of my motor swap.
Plenty of people have had no problems with the pacesetters, I have a set but they aren't on yet. Since you have a 2wd you are going to have a much easier go of the whole install. Be prepared for some broken exhaust studs when you take the stock manifolds off.
I ordered the OBXs from a vendor on Ebay.I have began to remove my stock exhaust.Does the transmission crossmember have to be removed? It appears it does but I just wanted to make sure.
