20 inch or bigger rims and lowered?

Anyone on here have a stock sitting or levels truck with 20 inch rims for street driving?

Looking to put 20s or 22 on my truck and either level it out or drop it just a tad.

It's 4 x 4 but not interested in anything off road.

Thanks!

Now i have a lift with 20x12 and 37/13.50R20.

what is the reason to put such large rims on with no sidewalls? is it for a more rough firm feeling of the road?

No sidewall, rough feeling of the road? Have you looked around lately? Many factory equipped vehicles have 20s and ride better than our beloved X's do.

It'll be rough, unless he's looking at changing out a lot of suspension items, it'll sure be rough. These factory equipped vehicles that have 20's are the likes of a Chrysler 300, or any other factory tuned suspension that is made for such. Also, less rubber on the road, less/no sidewall = you feeling each and every bump since there's no rubber flex to be had.

plenty of trucks come with factory 20s and even 22s now, and ride much better then our Exs i agree.

i had 20x9" wheels with 275/55 20 tires on my old '04 4x4 excursion...noticed no differance in ride but i did lose about 1mpg from the extra weight of the wheels.

heres a pic at stock height, i later lifted it with the same size but more agressive tires.

im thinking the weight of a X might crack them aluminum rims with not much of a side wall.. if you think about the laws of leverage from the lugs to the edge of the rim. with the x weight factor who knows. and the fact they always hitting th edang bumpstops!

Ford SuperDuty 20" from f250/350 will hold her. I am now running 275/65r20. I will post some pics, looks and rides great. Fills the wells and adds about 2" to ride height.

man its a shame you got rid of that one, i liked it allot except for the rims/tire, grill, nonpainted doorhandles, and the pushbar.

I've got a lot of derogatory things to say about lowering an excursion or any truck for that matter. But I'll be nice and just say - sounds childish to me.
