20 inch or bigger rims and lowered?

Come on guys, don't give the fella a hard time. We have our stock and lifted guys/girls with no lowered X's. And that's for a reason, we just don't think it would be safe for you or other drivers. I'm not trying to get the bee hive going. If your serious, make sure you have enough side wall, maybe atleast a 60s series tire with an E rating.

I've seen a lowering kit for the Excursion, but it was a bit expensive. The guys at Kelderman put out an air ride kit, but I'm pretty sure the kit was like $6,000 which is why I didnt go for it. I liked the idea of raising and lowering the truck as the conditions dictated.
A lot of guys talk about safety here...there IS inherent safety in getting the truck lower to the ground(center of gravity). As long as it is done with good geometry(or chemistry or trigonometry...) and quality parts, and install.
Most wheels that will fit a 8 lug bolt pattern are set up to handle our weight, but I guess not all. Tires are a concern, but I think the fact that the original poster is asking about these issues lets us all know he's considering that.
I had a set of 22" KMC Backseat wheels on my first Excursion with 305-45-22 Nitto 420S tires on it. The suspension was totally stock. I wasnt too fond of the sidewall height for appearance, but they only rubbed the leafs a tiny tiny bit when turned to lock. The ride actually was a bit firm but not hard and it DID corner a bit better. I must say that cornering has never been a desire of mine in this truck. I like powering out of turns with hundreds of foot-pounds of torque...not flying through them, ha!

I have 22's but no suspension work. it's no rougher on the road than the normal wheels, but the gas mileage suffers bigtime!

I have the DJM 3" drop kit on mine with 24" rims. It was a mistake I made when I was younger. I'm actually looking to raise the ride height now with some kind of spring swap (don't have the stock i-beams). Cars been parked for awhile I'll post some pics once I get it cleaned up and running again.

Full size trucks should stay at stock height or go UP, not the other way.
