LMC cab mounts, not happy!

Just got my new cab mounts installed on my 1970 ford crewcab. It wasn't a very good fit. It worked but not a nice clean install like I was hoping. I believe I will be going back into this down the road for sure. was having to do this and had to get done today. I guess this is a lesson learned. Lots of grinding and panel just didn't fit the btm of my cab.

Actually very dissappointed in the installation. they work but just a bad fit. Not even close. I haven't got any pics yet but soon. If you look into www.offroaddesign.com check out their crewcab build. Its a awesome truck and seen it run in the 2008 ultimate adventure. it was a workhorse and ran through all the obsticles and just kept on going. so after being inspired by this truck I'm now building this truck in a ford design instead of chevy. Mine will not be exactly the same but definetly a smaller contender and capable truck. really like those guys from offroaddesign and thier full size trucks.

That's almost like I want my truck to be set up as my mounts took alittle work getting in I have about 6 inches on each side I have to go over when I pull the frame out next year I couldn't reach at the exhaust they will work but I will go with Dennis carpenter next time as these aren't as sturdy as id like them to be do you have power steering im looking for a donor 78 or 79 to swap axles and power steering from seeing if youve done it yet or are going to would be nice for some pics and info on the conversion I'll be posting some pics up when I get time to make a Photobucket account of my floors and mounts

Good info. I've had my share of problems with LMC. I won't use them unless it's absolutely, positively necessary. I'm getting my cab corners from Dennis Carpenter, I think. If I need mounts, may go with them also.

On the cab mounts for a 1970 ford crew cab. 49-8810 left, 49-8811rh. this is what is showing in the LMC book for my truck. Lots of grinding to get to the proper placement for cab to frame alignment. Once welded it in, just didn't lay in flat as i think it should. from a distance looks OK but I know its not my best work for sure. definetly would check into someone elses cab mounts if considering do the repair. I was in a time frame situation and had to get it done, its done. but slowly getting the cab where i want it.

I used the DC cab mounts they are ok the rubber is good its the bolts and pipes that kind of suck the 6 bolts they send are all the same length and are two long in 4 places work will in one so I had bought 4 more bolts and nuts that would work and look good.I bought them a few years back for my 78 and those were like the factory bottom was a washer with the nut built in.So some where they got cheap.

Are you satisfied with the thickness of the mounts from DC? The ones from LMC are to thin for my taste makes me iffy about putting on a body lift. I'll have pics up in the next week if anyone's interested ill post them up here

That flux core welding wire is probably more trustworthy that the LMC cab mounts!!!!

the flux core wire actually gives a good hold on metal ive welded alot of things with it and has never failed yet. it's the cheap welder that is the problem in my case. but in the end nothing compairs to a good ole miller MIG welder with gas maybe that will be my gift to myself next year.

doesnt matter who you go with, its all chinese crap nowadays. even dennis carpenter has a page long disclaimer on their website explaining how tons of their parts have been outsourced. the government has prettymuch made it impossible for anybody to make an honest living anymore, and the american dream of getting somewhere in life, and one man working to support the family comfortably while the wife stays home, that is all gone, long gone.
