Exploding fuel tank

Mom was worried the truck would explode. So we relocated the tank. There is a tech article in "classic truck" that goes through it. took an afternoon.

Fuel tank

I had to scrap the exhaust. The cross members get flipped and moved and it fits perfect

Fuel tank

My friend owns justgastanks.com. I used the tank from an '87 full size blazer. The dimensions were right

Fuel tank

Don't have a pic of it all cleaned up and painted. The GM sending unit and the ford fuel guage don't play well together. It reads full when empty, and empty when full?

Bed

The bed was pretty wasted when I got it. I decided to go with new panels from LMC. They fitty pretty good. I had to drill a few holes for the cross members.

What

OK. Up until now, my son thought this project was just another thing Dad was never going to finish.
When we dropped the bed on, he finally saw a truck! He hasn't stopped staring at it since!

Bed

You can see how it sits a little crooked. A couple washers, and a little air in the flat tire, and looks great.

You gotta be kidding!

I got a call from from the wife today. Went something like this, "_____ got in a little fender bender today." Could have been way worse. Oh well looks like I'm back in the garage every night. OH DAMN!!! NOT THAT :-)))
