Joe (X_Hemi_Guy) uses different rotors and pads and he's had really good success eliminating the brake shimmy problem caused by the uneven rotor face.

Drop him a PM and ask him what rotors and pads he uses, he'll help you out.

I had the same problem with my car. After reading this thread I decided to just replace both front rotors. They were only $35 each. Unfortunately our truck rotors are not that cheap. Welcome to the wonderful world of expensive truck parts.

Judging from the fact you're feeling it in your steering wheel, it makes me lean more towards your rotors. But I wouldn't rule out the ball joints... I didn't exactly have a shake when I braked, but it pulled pretty good to the side that had the bad ball joints. But come to think of it, the slight vibration/pulsing I used to feel when braking is gone since replacing the ball joints... you could always just get your rotors remachined for the time being until you can afford some ART's... that way, you've ruled the rotors out and then you might've fixed the problem as well.

so Excursion is under braked problem also with springs. Springs are week cause front axle to rotate casing wheEl hop when braking. Need aftermarket axle stabling kit to hold axle in place. Of truck has been used commercially or tow heavy stuff alot most likely springs are now week from braking under extreme weight causin axle rotation.

Check your rear driveline carrier bearing too. The rubber bushing around mine was shot a few years ago and it would shake almost exactly like a warped brake rotor when slowing down/braking, especially coming off the freeway. Doesnt sound like its your problem but its a super easy thing to check and obvious when its shot, also pretty easy to change.

The OP (who just happens to be my son) did figure it out, but I honestly no longer recall any details about this particular issue at all. He also sold the truck about 5-6 years ago.

Oddly enough, just this past weekend, my son (OP) had to fight through a set of stuck caliper pistons and slide pins on his 4Runner's rear wheels. They were sticking so bad he could not even rotate the DS tire once it was off the ground! One new caliper ad rotor on one wheel and a new set of pins on the other, and he was literally free-wheeling again.
